KSRTC buses are plenty which are connect all major cities in Kerala. Trivandrum to Alleppey costs less than Rs 100 and Cochin to Alleppey costs less than Rs 50. Private luxury coach buses are available to interstate destinations like Bangalore, Chennai and Manglore.
The Distance from Thiruvananthapuram to Alleppey is 154 km. And the drive takes about 3 hours by car. The road is best when you start from Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station and take MG Road, Kollam Road, Quilon Road cross Korivttom on National Highway 47. You will cross Attingal after 30 kms and Kollam on the way. The drive is a pleasurable thanks to the surrounding coconut and palm trees. - Entertainment
Alleppey is one of the small and beautiful towns of South India, where tourists come for houseboats and cruises. Being a small community, there is no nightlife in terms of discos, pubs and nightclubs. Despite this, there are some great options for entertainment. During the evening you can spend your timee at city auditoriums, taking in performances by local artists on stage. Night time is generally spent on houseboats or at the hotel where you can take in picturesque views and savor the beauty of Kerala.

Shopping in Allepey will prove to be pleasurable as you will find several shops selling souveniers and other interesting knick-knacks. Alleppey is very well known for its coir products and carpets. Coir products of note include mattresses, rugs, doormats etc. wihch are all in great demand due to the high quality and reasonable price. In particular, Coir carpets, with their beautiful embroidery and bright colours are a speciality and considered collectibles. Shops are also known to have a wide selection of Indian spices.

Snake boat races are the most significant traditional event in Alleppey. These spectacular water regattas are usually held between August and October, and involve long thin boats powered by up to 120 oarsmen. The most famous snake boat race is the Nehru Trophy Boat Race which takes place in August at Punnamada Lake.
The church located at Kokkamangalam or Kokkothamangalam was one of the seven churches founded by St.Thomas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ.Onam, the largest festival in Kerela, takes place during the months of August-September.
